Guide

Pick Tackle first, Defense Curl doesn't do anything for your clears without Tackle.

Covet and Belch are still, in my opinion, and from what I've observed spectating multiple top level Greedents, the best moveset combination for this character despite the multiple waves of nerfs. It's just that good.

Because of Belch's incredible attack scaling, Attack Weight benefits it more than the vast majority of moves in the game.

Score Shield gives you more HP, and helps you build that Attack Weight much easier.

Buddy Barrier is fantastic for a character like this, where your unite move can swing team fights, and allows you to make big plays in the endgame by being that hero who activates the Buddy Barrier with Score Shield on a defender to score 100 points.

Once you get Covet, Tackle gains unique properties during it, and functions similarly to Belch during Covet. Getting used to using Tackle and Belch during Covet is the key to unlocking this broken character's damage and team fight potential.

I don't use Muscle Band, because the vast majority of this character's damage output comes from its moves, and cooldown lowering/resets.

Fluffy Tail, Goal Getter, Eject Button, or even more niche items like Slow Smoke or Potion are all pretty decent on this character. You don't need Full Heal when Covet has unstoppable throughout its entire duration. Fluffy Tail is probably the most versatile, it allows you to counter jungle, makes this character's already great laning even better, and it allows you to have a better chance at winning those crucial objective coin flips.

Works Well With

Mr. Mime

Confusion damage allows you to clean up with Belch, and Barrier makes it easier to land Belch on targets because it limits their mobility.

Sylveon

Sylveon is very solid in many ways, and benefits your team no matter what. It's a great lane partner, you can help it get to level 4 pretty easily by distracting enemies and getting scores, while staying leveled yourself from scoring. Regardless of their move choices, they have good follow-up with you, and can help peel or clean up.

Snorlax

Snorlax moves faster near the Oran berries you create, which benefits it a lot, and because you function as an off-tank/secondary tank rather than a main tank, having Snorlax back you up and establish space helps Greedent a lot.
