If you’ve read my Snorlax guide, you’ll remember it focused on a passive playstyle. This guide will be similar in that it’s meant to take advantage of zoning your opponents. In addition, Venasaur is definitely the character that’ll teach you how to aim your moves properly.
Start the round by heading into your lane and leveling. Make sure to beat your opponents to the center Audino/Corphish for that extra bit of experience. If you’ve leveled up quickly, use Sludge Bomb to attack the Vespiquen and Combees to keep your opponents away from them. Also take advantage of Razor Leaf’s mid-range attacking to try and snipe enemies early with your partner.
When Drednaw spawns, you should be zoning enemies away from it with Sludge Bomb and trying to get big damage off with Solar Beam. Shoot from the grass to avoid most encounters and make pick off low health targets. If you get to Venasaur quickly and there are several enemies on Drednaw, feel free to use your Unite Move to drop a latge amaount of AOE damage.
The whole point of this playstyle is to attack from relatively safe distances, while getting off multiple snipes to kill targets from deep ranges. Fight from the grass or your goal to keep out of danger. Play safe and you should be able to support your team, while ranking up loads of damage.
Works Well With
Gengar and Venasaur are great partners for taking out multiple opponents because of Sludge Bomb. Since Gengar's Hex will refresh when it hits any poisoned targets, this includes enemies poisoned by both Gengar and Venasaur. Toss Sludge Bombs together and let Gengar run rampant.
Any tank can work amazingly with Venasaur. I find that Rock Tomb Crustle, Ice Fang Mamoswine, and Telekinesis Slowbro have higher synergy because they can lock a target(s) in place to be sniped by Solar Beam or slowed by Sludge Bomb. Snorlax and Blastoise, however, still perform well with general crowd control abilities.
